Good - the staff is exceptional, particularly Jenny and Esteban. The grounds are nice for walking around and exploring. The barman is great and the live Irish music a delight. Having boardgames was also nice as we could play on rainy days. Dinners were delicious. If you want to get out of the city and escape to nature, it's a good option.
Not so good - the majority of lampposts and lighting on the grounds are not working, so the walking trails are not safe after dark, even with cellphone lights. At the lake house the parking is away from the house which you also need to walk in the dark.
An Irish country side getaway however it is not. The decor feels sparse, the breakfast area cold and awkward, and no where is there any Irish art or inspiration despite being in gorgeous West Cork - it could've been anywhere in the world. The library and bar doesn't have enough seating for the amount of people who will want to sit and have a drink during busy times. And there's a pamphlet on the place's history - but it's just a list of renovations and owners. Look up the history yourself, particularly about the garden wall.
We had a marvellous stay. The staff couldn't have been nicer. We were greater with the warmest welcome. The food was excellent.
Great attention to details. The location is magnificent and perfect to recharge. Thank you so much
Our three-night holiday stay was truly exceptional. The staff went above and beyond, making our experience unforgettable. From the beautifully renovated rooms to the scenic walking trails, cozy estate living rooms, and rejuvenating saunas, every aspect of this property is special. The dining experience was a highlight, with top-notch dinners and the included breakfast was personalized allowing us to select our meal from a series of menu items. Already discussing our next visit!
This hotel shows up in searches as family friendly however this is not a very family oriented hotel at all. There is nothing other than the very poorly marked walking trails to do with kids during the offseason. ||The hotel has no soft play …
Lissard Hotel takes you back in time to old world splendor and service. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms have all the charm of a scene from "Downton Abbey" but the high quality amenities you would expect in a Relais and Chateau …
We arrived on the Saturday to a lovely warm welcome and were later greeted by the owner (who subsequently kindly upgraded us). The main house and the grounds are very relaxing and the hotel uses its natural assets (lakes & woodlands) very well. The Spa treatments were excellent and dinner and drinks served with calm assurance.
We booked a family lunch and had heard positive feedback so were looking forward to it. They had to add tables as there were not enough laid for our booking. We were very surprised with the limited menu but could do little about that. We …
The most attentive staff ive come across in Ireland. They couldn't do enough for you. Genuinely nice people. Dinner was wonderful. Our bedroom was lovely and spotless.
Breakfast was a massive let down. The buffet was small and not much choice, warm juices, poor fruit salad selection. Coffee was weak and we were extremely disappointed with the whole breakfast. After forking out over €1100 for 2 nights to be told that the sauna was an additional €40 to use did not sit well with us. Lovely grounds we enjoyed the walk and the sky gardens. Great for a once off but I wouldn't return.
